Which horse rug should you choose? 0g means no insulating filling, while 100g, 200g and 400g provide increasing levels of insulation. The choice depends on your horse’s coat, clipping, condition, weather and time spent outdoors. Svensk Ridsport offers selected horse rugs during Black Week.

A horse rug should be chosen according to the horse’s needs, not just the outdoor temperature. During Black Week at Svensk Ridsport, you’ll find selected rugs with different filling weights, materials and features.

An unlined 0g rug provides weather protection without extra filling. A lightly lined rug of 50–100g gives some extra insulation, while 150–300g is used when the horse needs more warmth. Rugs with 350–400g or more are heavier winter options for horses with a clearly greater need for insulation.

Also consider the difference between turnout rugs and stable rugs, the outer fabric’s durability in denier, waterproofness, breathability, removable neck and the possibility to use liners. The horse’s clipping, condition, forage and access to shelter affect the choice.
